Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix Circuit of Sepang 8-10 April 2011. For the first time in Malaysia’s F1 history, race cars at the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) would be sharing the track with the Formula 1 mean machines during the Sepang F1 race weekend.

MSS, which celebrates its 10th edition this year, has received a major shot in the arm after the F1 license holder – Formula One Management (FOM) – has approved its inclusion as a support race at the 2011 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix in April.

History : Malaysia has long had ambitions to join the countries hosting International Motorsport and the country now has a circuit worthy of hosting both the F1 and FIM Motorcycle Grand Prix.

First included in the Formula One World Championship in 1999, the Malaysian Grand Prix is held at the hyper-modern Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur. This circuit offers action on and off the track, and the weather can vary from tropical storm to extreme heat promising spectacular results. And it is a reference in terms of standards for all other circuits since the beginning.

The Sepang Circuit has been specifically designed to encourage overtaking, being very wide and containing at least four slow corners following long straights. The other 10 corners are medium- to high speed. Those characteristics lead to the brakes having a hard time, while cars also need plenty of traction to accelerate away.

Since 2001, the Malaysian Grand Prix has moved from the end of the schedule to the beginning. This has led to unpredictable results as teams and drivers get to grips with their new equipment.

Sepang is a circuit I really love. It’s big, fast and wide with some really demanding high-speed corners where you can find a lot of time if you’re really able to get the car working to its full extent." Lewis Hamilton said.

Jenson Button said “This is a track where you need a very efficient car – the corners here are big and will punish any car that lacks downforce. After Melbourne, when I really felt like I had a very solid car beneath me, I’m looking forward to getting out in practice to see how our package can adapt to this circuit."

Recall: 2010 MV Agusta F4

MV Agusta is recalling 211 of its 2010 MV Agusta F4 superbikes again, this time for a faulty subframe design. According to the statement issued by the NHTSA, the MV Agusta F4′s rear subframe could crack or break because of the upper fixture points not being “robust” enough. This problem creates a safety issue for a rider and passenger, who could find their stability on the motorcycle compromised under such a situation. To rectify the ...

Tipping contest winners: Donington 2009

It was a freakish race - one which I am still trying to get my head around, let alone write up! Because of the unusual podium, points were scarce this week with many people striking out. Only one person scored podium points: @leighberwick with his 3rd place for de Puniet. How you picked him out Leigh, [...]
