Sachsenring tipping contest scores

A quiet week at the top of the standings, with @daveminella just inching away from the pack by a single point. Shouts out to @Brian_GP, @danzero and @ducatinewstoday for pulling off their Minellas. Had you guys been around earlier you would be pushing the top spots. The good news is, there is plenty of time [...]

2011 Catalunya 125cc FP2 Results: Terol Fastest Again In Damp

Nico Terol topped the timesheets once again at Barcelona, this time on a much wetter track than this morning. A light drizzle has continued throughout the day, but Terol was unfazed by the conditions. The Bankia Aspar rider finished nearly eight tenths of a second ahead of Sandro Cortese, while Maverick Viñales set the 3rd fastest time, ahead of Johann Zarco in 4th.

Simoncelli, ?I hope not to get influenced by the situation?

Simoncelli 2011

Simoncelli 2011

MONTMELO ‘- Pulled in the face, with little or rather no mood to joke: not the usual Marco Simoncelli. Moreover, three weeks have been intense for the Gresini team rider, penalized with a ride trough “in Le Mans for contact with Dani Pedrosa on the 18th lap, even threatened with death by a madman through an email arrived at the Gresini team. Serious stuff, so that Sic must turn to the paddock with two bodyguards – “two guys” as Mark calls them – because you never know in these circumstances should not be underestimated what happened. Only after talking to the leadership race, from which he had been summoned to the 16, Mark is a bit more peaceful.

“There were Paul Butler (race director and representative de’Irta, nda ) – he says – Deni Claude (FIM), Javier Alonso (Dorna) and Franco Uncini (safety representative) and Mike Webb (which in 2012 will replace Butler): we made ??small talk, I wanted to make sure that I understood my mistake. ”

Yes, because in this period, Simoncelli understood to have made a mistake.
“In reviewing the pictures, I noticed you have closed too Dani: Not going to happen in the future. I believe however that the penalty was excessive because it was a racing incident. But all that was said after that there is, does not bother me, but it was wrong what has been said before (Mark refers to what Moto.it called “Holy Inquisition”, with many drivers Grand Prix of France on Friday Simoncelli accused of being too aggressive during the Safety Commission, nda ). However, now I try to think only of the GP and hopefully not be affected much by the situation. ”

Even Jorge Lorenzo, the great accuser of Le Mans, trying to throw water on the fire.
“I think we have talked too much – are the words of the world champion – in this episode. I hope the fans behave well with Simoncelli: certainly not applaud, but I do not even have to crucify. Mark felt it was wrong, as indeed has happened to all the drivers in their careers, including myself. ”

Hardly, however, the Spanish fans will listen: in 2009, when he ran in Barcelona after a contact between Simoncelli and Bautista in the previous GP at Mugello, Marco was heavily abused throughout the weekend. Sic remembers it well.

“I’m not quiet as usual – admits -: after all that has happened does not make me feel peaceful. I learned last Sunday that he was threatened with death, but I prefer not to speak of this: they are bad things that have nothing to do with sport. And ‘maybe we should all take a step back and think only the track. Now I was a little ‘shaken, then I metabolized a little’ more, but it was better if there had been nothing. ”

Then the good wishes, sincerely, to Pedrosa.
“What I really regret is that Dani can not run. I tried to talk to him, I sent him a message, but did not answer. As regards the statements of Alberto Puig (he said it must put in jail “, nda ), seem out of place. But I say only my mistakes, the other will answer for them. “
